Mindfulness-Based Counselling Montreal

Rediscover Your Wellbeing

Learn practical mindfulness tools and strategies to help you overcome your stress and anxiety.

Often used in conjunction with ‘traditional talk-therapy’, Mindfulness-based counselling can help you learn to quiet your mind so you will be less distracted or upset by worries or ruminations. It can help you learn to accept your feelings rather than being overwhelmed or consumed by them.

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a non-judgmental way of paying attention to the present moment. Essentially, mindfulness is the state in which one becomes aware of one’s thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations in the present moment, without self-criticism.

What is Mindfulness-Based Counselling?

The ‘goal’ of mindfulness-based counselling is to learn to pay attention to what is happening in the present moment and accept it without being influenced by it. That is, mindfulness-based counselling is designed to help a person focus their attention on the present rather than getting tangled up in their anxiety about future situations or ruminate about past experiences. Mindfulness frees up your ‘headspace’ to allow you to make clearer choices.

During mindfulness-based counselling, you learn techniques to stay with what is happening in the present moment so that you don’t get carried away in thought or let your life run on ‘auto-pilot’.

Mindfulness-based counselling may also help you deal with painful emotions. When thoughts are witnessed as separated from emotions, painful feelings can subside.

Mindfulness-based counselling can be used to help people with emotional health issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, addiction, anger-management issues, as well as other mental health issues.
