Men's Counselling Montreal
Therapy for Men in Westmount, Montreal
Accepting new clients in-person and online.
Most men who come to therapy have been managing on their own for a long time. The strategies that got them this far, pushing through, staying busy, keeping things to themselves, have stopped working. Stress builds, relationships strain, and the things that used to be manageable start to feel like they are closing in.
As a therapist in Westmount, I work with men who are dealing with the practical fallout of sustained pressure. That might mean anxiety that is affecting your sleep and decision-making, anger that is damaging your relationships, low mood that has settled in and will not shift, or a growing sense that something in your life needs to change but you are not sure what. Therapy is not about talking for the sake of it. It is structured, direct, and focused on results.
What Brings Men to Therapy
Men tend to seek therapy when the consequences of not addressing something become harder to ignore than the discomfort of asking for help. That is not a criticism. It is a pattern, and it is worth understanding because it often means the issues have had time to compound.
Common concerns include:
- Stress, anxiety, and work-related burnout
- Depression or persistent low mood
- Anger, irritability, and emotional reactivity
- Relationship difficulties and communication breakdown
- Fatherhood, parenting stress, and family pressure
- Pornography use and compulsive sexual behaviour
- Substance use and problematic coping patterns
- Life transitions, identity, and loss of direction
- Isolation and difficulty maintaining meaningful connection
These issues rarely exist in isolation. Stress feeds anger, anger damages relationships, damaged relationships deepen low mood, and low mood drives withdrawal. Therapy addresses the full picture, not just the presenting symptom.
How I Work With Men
The approach is practical and evidence-based. Sessions are 50 minutes, structured, and focused on the specific issues you are dealing with. I am direct when it is useful and I will not waste your time with open-ended conversation that does not lead anywhere.
In the first session, we identify what is going on, what is driving it, and what you want to change. From there, we build a clear plan. Ongoing sessions focus on understanding the patterns that maintain your difficulties and developing strategies you can apply in your daily life. That might involve examining how you handle conflict, how you respond under pressure, how you communicate in relationships, or how you make decisions when things feel overwhelming.
Many men have not had a space where they can be straightforward about what they are experiencing without performing or editing themselves. Therapy provides that. The work is collaborative, but I will challenge you when it is productive to do so.
What to Expect
You do not need to have everything figured out before starting. Most clients come in with a general sense that something is not working and a willingness to look at it honestly. That is enough.
Progress depends on engagement. The men who get the most from therapy are the ones who apply what they learn between sessions, not just the ones who show up. Some clients see meaningful change within a few sessions. Others benefit from longer-term work, particularly when the issues have been building for years. We track progress together and adjust the approach as needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is men’s counselling?
Men’s counselling focuses on the challenges that commonly affect men, including stress, relationships, anger, identity, fatherhood, and life transitions. Sessions are structured, practical, and confidential.
Who is men’s therapy for?
Any man who is dealing with stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, or feeling stuck. You do not need a diagnosis or a crisis to benefit from therapy.
Do you offer therapy for young men?
Yes. I offer therapy for young men and older teens, typically ages 16 to mid-20s. Sessions focus on anxiety, emotional regulation, identity, confidence, isolation, relationships, and managing academic or work-related pressure during key transitions.
Is men’s therapy different from general counselling?
The clinical approach is the same. The difference is that sessions account for the social expectations, communication styles, and pressures that commonly shape how men experience and respond to difficulty.
Do you work with fathers?
Yes. Therapy can support men adjusting to fatherhood, managing parenting stress, and navigating the tension between family and professional responsibilities.
How often will we meet?
Most clients begin with weekly or bi-weekly sessions. Frequency is adjusted over time based on progress and what makes sense for your situation.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. I offer both in-person sessions at my office in Westmount and secure virtual sessions.
Do you issue insurance receipts?
Yes. I provide receipts that can be submitted to your insurance provider. Confirm directly with your insurer whether counselling services from a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) are covered under your plan.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. This allows me to offer the time slot to other clients.
